Maillots and summer nights

I recently started doing a research for some swim shoots that I was planning. I came across a bunch of Janzen ads which were comic renderings of gorgeous women in different one piece swimsuits or Maillots as the French call it. The ads from 1920's and 30's inspired me to delve deeper into shoots inspired by 1920's swimwear. I also started looking into different swimcaps, from ebay to swim outlet stores online. I came across some amazing floral swim caps and some vintage Janzen caps on ebay. I also came across some beautiful work by photographer Greg Lotus for Vogue where he depicted the girls laying in beach chairs wearing maillots and another lifting weights with a parasol in the background. I also found some great images from other issues of Vogue and an old cover from Life Magazine. I ended up working with an amazing prop stylist who had access to some pretty interesting beach chairs, parasols, and beach towels, amongst a ton of other props, so we collaborated with the photographer on the shoot. I can't post the pictures until the story comes out but I wanted to give you some insight into my thinking process and some of the images I found for inspiration.
